Shumboku Ooka Gallery of the Reader Collection of Japanese Flower-and-Bird Art

In 1746 Shumboku authored a picture book entitled Minchō Shiken (i.e., Purple Inkstone of the Ming Dynasty). It included the thirty-six pictures of flowers show in this gallery. A notable feature of these pictures is their color. They were some of the earliest multi-color prints published in Japan.
